Caledon Mountain Lodge is a cozy, tranquil retreat situated between Fouriesburg and Clarens, just 10km from Fouriesburg in the Rooiberg Mountain range. There is a 4km gravel road to reach this idyllic family holiday destination in the Eastern Free State.
A large portion of the farm is amongst Sandstone Mountains with spectacular rock formations, majestic awe inspiring amphitheaters, caves, overhangs, springs, waterfalls and breathtaking views from the top of the mountain. The vegetation is mostly scrub bush, veldt grass and some indigenous trees and shrubs. On top of the plateau you will find proteas, fynbos, and a very delicate ecosystem of rare mountain flora. Fossils, semi precious stones and crystals can be found scattered along the river’s edge.
Our clean and invigorating climate, ranges from warm wet summers to frosty winters. Autumn is especially beautiful, as the fall leaves start changing to reds, yellows and oranges, and set against the Sandstone Mountains, the contrast is breathtaking.
At Caledon Mountain Lodge, we offer not only a high level of service, comfort and maximum rest, but also caring and efficient hospitality. Let us spoil you. This “home away from home’ is the place to kick off your shoes, enjoy the sunsets over the mountains and stargaze at night. Children are most welcome.
A warm welcome always awaits you, BUT be warned, you may find it hard to say farewell.
